Encinitas Quail Botanical Gardens
I've heard many moms rave about QBG in Encinitas. Apparently, there are a lot of great things for kids, even young kids, to do there. They can dig in sand for bones, play dress-up and even use wands to make huge bubbles.
Here's a blurb about it from Pam... (Pam, I hope you don't mind!)
"Also, regarding Quail Botanical Gardens...I've taken Ava twice. It's free the first Tuesday of each month. The children's garden is very compact -- not much room for strollers and can get crowded. I'll look forward to letting Ava explore when she's a little older -- there's a small playhouse and they usually have some activities -- like, bubbles and planting your own plant to take home. I love botanical gardens, so I enjoy walking around the main garden. There's a bamboo section, a fruit tree section, a succulent section and much more. There's a couple of grassy area's to rest and have a snack."
Del Mar Water Park - Waterscape (may have closed for winter)
Karem found a great water park called Waterscape -at the Del Mar rec center. Here's what Karem has to say about it...
" The operating hours are noon to 4pm. For those of you who don't know about it, I went with my friend Kristi last week and we had a blast! It's a kiddy pool with a playscape inside that squirts water in every direction. Kaylie was so excited she didn't know what to do with herself. The cost is $5 for adults and $1.50 for children."
Directions:
Take the Del Mar Heights exit (off the 5) east. Make a right on El Camino Real. Make a left on Townsgate drive. It's on your right...3777 Townsgate Drive 552-1623.
